A Modern Heirloom: Bridal Inspiration For The Desi Girlies

As a wedding photographer and foremost a creative, my goal is simply to create. So when I saw a gap in the Indian bridal editorial world of Pinterest, I decided that I needed to create something I wasn’t seeing. I want to see more Indian bridal inspo from real people…and NOT celebrities. So here is my take on a modern dulhaan (bride), in one of her many gorgeous outfits that she will adorn for her multi-day celebration. Her Sangeet look is a modern, sexy look, with a touch of fashion editorial, because which bride doesn’t see herself as a cover-worthy star? This look is a masterclass in contemporary bridal styling that pays homage to the Indian tradition while embracing a modern, artistic, and fashionable sensibility.

HMUA, Jenny Bowker played with an open, loose wave system for the bride’s hair. For the skin, a dewy glow with pearls to accent the look, gives it a playful, ethereal vibe. Hues of pink highlight skin tones and attire, while bold jewelry makes it a statement.

The bride is wearing a custom lehengha (skirt) made in India. She swapped the traditional blouse for a pearl bralette, to give it sexy, anti-bridal look.
